dehdasht, a new durum wheat cultivar for semitropical dryland conditions
Authors
abstract
most part of durum wheat is produced in semitropical dryland regions in iran. heat and drought stresses are the main constraints in these regions. so, identification of durum wheat cultivars with high yield and tolerant to these stresses is the main breeding strategy in dryland agricultural research institute. the genotype capeiti was evaluated at gachsaran agricultural research station from 1996 to 2003, and in kouhdasht, gonbad, moghan and ilam stations drying 2001-2003 years. seven year mean yield of new genotype (3.222 tha-1) showed remarkable preference to seimareh as check ( 2.830 tha-1). average thousand kernel weight of this genotype (39.4g,) was 8 gram more than that of the check cultivar. new genotype has spring type, white color kernel, earliness, and is resistant to lodging and shattering. it was moderately resistant to yellow rust and moderately susceptible to leaf rust in artificial inoculation, but it did not show susceptibility in natural infection conditions. due to yield stability based on different stability parameters, optimum grain yield and agronomic traits, this genotype was introduced through agricultural extension, education and research organization under name of “dehdasht” in 2008

Extended Abstract Introduction and Objective: Due to the lack of micronutrient elements and the urgent need for biofortification in important and strategic plants in the nutrition of human society such as wheat, it is necessary to evaluate any strategy to optimize the quality and production of this product. This has led researchers to investigate the effect of foliar application of zinc and ir...
